Shared Grit (Apply Below)

Are you interested in participating in an incredible and unique opportunity for our veteran community—one that blends creativity, collaboration, and the spirit of service that defines Woodworking Warriors. We have partnered with the Adrian Center for the Arts (ACA) to launch a special project called "Shared Grit", a collaborative art initiative pairing individual ACA artists with individual veteran woodworkers.

The concept is simple but deeply meaningful: One ACA artist + one WW4W veteran = one shared work of art. Together, each pair will design and create a unique piece that reflects craftsmanship, resilience, and the power of working side-by-side.

We currently have 21 ACA artists ready to participate, and now it’s our turn to identify the veterans who would like to be part of this first-of-its-kind collaboration. While we hope to include everyone who expresses interest, we must be upfront that spaces are limited—we anticipate welcoming  21 veteran participants for this inaugural round. If interest exceeds capacity, we will do our best to find ways for everyone to be involved, whether this year or in future iterations.

Shared Grit will run from January 2026 through September 2026, giving each pair ample time to meet, design, and build their collaborative piece at a pace that works for them. No previous "art" experience is required—just an open mind, your woodworking skills, and a desire to create something meaningful alongside a fellow artist.

In late October through mid-November 2026, the completed works will be featured in a special gallery exhibition at the Adrian Center for the Arts. This show will include a Veterans Day component, ensuring the service and creativity of our participating veterans are honored in a public, powerful way. At the close of the exhibit, all collaborative pieces will be auctioned, with proceeds supporting the mission and continued growth of Woodworking Warriors.
